With more than 770 million confirmed cases and almost 7 million deaths worldwide, the coronavirus pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2 is certainly the most serious health challenge of this century. The pandemic was contained thanks to the global use of COVID-19 vaccines. Nevertheless, COVID-19 will probably continue to accompany us as a risk disease in everyday life in the distant future. To date, vaccination is the best protection against the disease, especially severe cases. Are children and adolescents vaccinated against COVID-19?
The STIKO no longer recommends basic immunization or booster vaccinations for children and adolescents who have no underlying diseases, as the majority of cases in this age group are now mild.
